odyessey-stop one Iowa city

We spent Memorial day at KJ's and reLAXed. good food/friends/family fun. mon nite was memorial-must have been up 22 times to pee...can you spell tired in all caps? tuesday noon, took mandy to aeroporto, and left her(kisses, hugs, sighs) to deal with the storm of the century. of course she handled it. Continued to nebrasKa and chasesd a storm for the next three hundred drizzle miles. Overnite in generic motel, but the hot tub was hot and the chicken was delcious, KFC, 10 years since i've had such fingerlickingfatfood. and best news: I slept like a baby, waking only every two hours for a sip of H2O and back to dreamland.
tues repeat, drive, drizzle and dine out. in Iowa city by 6pm. stayed with most good natured/warm welcoming friends dix and steve.
wed. dah-dun...finally at UofI hosp. met with #1 doc for this body malfunction and went through options, plans and schedules. I am scheduled for table time with the surgeons June 18, its a full day, 8 hours on the table...but he wants another final diagnostic test next wednesday, an MRI with special probe (yikes), to make absolutely sure he can be successful when they open my belly. if any ick or bad stuff shows on the MRI, I have to do chemo first, then surgery, so still in lala land of waiting and waiting for the real show to begin. One thing cancer and the army teach you is to hurry up and wait, aka:patience. Today (friday) we go to Webster city with wes and alena, then tomorrow up to twin cities to get them home in time for leana's sister's grad party. then back to w/c and iowa city by tuesday and pop into the hospital for that mri and then as paul harvey never says: you'll know '"the rest of the stoma' good day". loathe to leave, but leave with lot of love and thanks for all who read our journey notes, and all who leave notes and well wishes...love marcus, somewhere in the heartland

ps: special shout outs to: mandy mae, my loving funnest daughter of laughter, bright eyes and blogging; to wes and aleana for changing their lives/schedules/and sleep patterns to join us on the caravan to carver hosptial; to peggy for whom i would undergo any operation/procedure no matter how uncomfortable to any degree, so i can spend more, more, more days with you...we both know how the night time goes...love to all of you and see you in my wandering day dreams...marcus

Ohhhhh make sure you take Wes to Leon's Pizza and let him get some life-sustaining poppers! Say hi to Aunt Mary, Mike, Ellen, and of course: PAT POWERS!!!! Woooo hoo, Dub C rocks. Kendra and I condensed into one room, our beds side by side for every night slumber parties- pretty funny. Wondering why we didn't do this sooner for cheeeepah rent. Going to talk to my boss-lady today to get some shifts- people are counting on me to get them buzzed. ("Can I have 4 beers?" Pearl, the Landlord is my best client.) Manu Chao tomorrow night- I'll take a video on the camera and post for your enjoyment.
Love you all and miss you...
See you soon!!!!

Spent hours on ET porch last night celebrating last day of school....watching beautiful sunset and cruising condors over GC...and laughing once or twice maybe.

Shell and Tom are coming today. We're cooking out at Beckerleg's adn then back to the ET porch for graduation.

Marcus-Chan, ancient Chinese won-ton say, "beware of special probe"--not sound fun.

Hey Markie Marc! This is Matman from Amsterdam. I was always with that guy who called himself Antonio Brown Hair Lopez, people mixed us up, although we look really different. I just wanna say: 'sup?'. And ask you if you are making trips anyway, why not make one to Europe and crash here? Bringing back those good memories, when you and the mrs. met... (Amsterdam dude!) Anyway, you are by far the coolest dad (except for Bob Ruba ofcourse) in the WC area (probably the entire Hamilton county).. wes and mandy are really lucky. Not that i have anything to complain because my dad (Jos Köster)is pretty frickn cool too, but he is dutch and speaks shitty english, like toni brownhair basicly. Anyway have fun on your trip, and now i am gonna read all this stuff to figure out what the deal is with this blog. Peace out Fuhrmanns!!

Hey Marcus
Fresh back from the Carib. What an adventure! Too short, but laid ground for a follow up in Jan. What you doin' in January?
Remember when you and my Dad and I went salmon fishin' out of Avila? You stood on the rail for at least an hour before you could make the plumbing work. It was hilarious! You had to pee sooooo bad and just couldn't get it goin'. You seemed to have solved that problem just fine. I remember the ride home that afternoon. You straddled the bow like a buck'n bronco which casued the nose to dip and got everyone on the boat soaking wet. You were having the time of your life and laughing your ass off and waving your hand over your head like you were goin' the whole 8 seconds at National Finals Rodeo. What a great picture in my head!
Keep up the smilin', lovin' and huggin'.

Keep the updates comin' Mr. "Eff."

Great to hear from you.

I hope things continue going well - - just say "no!" to chemo!

You're so lucky to have your family there supporting you. It makes me realize that whatever "love" is, actually exists.

Like I said, keep the updates coming.

Hi M&P,
We just got back home from Mia's graduation weekend. Beautiful early morning ceremony at 9AM outside in the high school bleachers. Very fun day, doing the party scene with KJ and Laura. Heard all about the fun you guys had the weekend before at Budda Ranch...we didn't have the time to get out there. Maybe next time. Ali got home on Fri afternoon so we had a greaet visit with her too. She was SOOOOOO bummed to know she missed out on your visit. So, we've heard all the updates and will try to call you at Mary's manana. Still waiting to buy our tickets till we know what's going on with you. Miss talking with you so let's catch up Monday night.
Love you, Jules

Hello Bro:

A couple of quick smiles for ya !
* During last night’s Democratic debate, all the candidates said if they were elected, they would get rid of the military’s "don’t ask, don’t tell policy” for gay soldiers. "Don’t ask, don’t tell” would be replaced by a new policy, "Don’t tell me you’re wearing those boots with that gun.”
* After serving eight years in jail, assisted suicide doctor Jack Kenvorkian was on "Larry King Live.” When Kevorkian saw Larry King he said, "I swear, he was like that when I got here.”
* A new fertility test is being developed that will allow men and women to test their fertility at home. The new home fertility test will be called sex.

I love You, Hummer

Hello Marcus,

It's brother-in-law Denny. I read you went through Utah. We (wife Sharon and I) just got back from Zion. Beautiful scenery. But I guess you guys know that, living there and all that.

We just missed you in WC. Stayed with Mary for a night and picked up the dog. What do you guys camp in? We're thinking of getting a Class B Gulfstream motorhome. The kind that's like an oversize van. Too much beautiful scenery.

We both wish you luck and will follow the blog.

Take care.

Denny and Sharon

Marcus,

We're sitting in the reception room at UIHC, waiting for them to capture MRI pics. We're sending big mojo, good stuff vibing your way. Peg is showing me how to post without a password. So here it is. I know, I know, riveting reading. Better to wait for the movie to come out. In the meantime, here's to finding out what it is, plan of action, and here's to the rest of the summer, forging forward and getting back to whole again. AS much as you miss home, I'm glad you're in Iowa with us. Now, back to magazines with Peggio. Love you! Patty
